Since we have such a low number, just me and Al, I’m going to pass up the moon tonight. Al has the instructions to go on his own.
I thought the moonrise at 6:53 on Fri. 8/24 and 7:28 on Sat 8/25. I went to MGM this morning Fri., the parking at MGM was not a problem. So you may try to park there. It’s free. Cliff Lin

This should be a Great event to photograph. I plan to arrive around 5pm. I am going to try to enter Gate 1 to park. If I’m not allowed there, I’ll probably end up entering gate 9 and hopefully be able to park somewhere near the Mallary building. Please let me know if you’d like to join me.

Sunset and Blue Hour from on top of the MGM Parking Garage – I’m planning to be there on Sunday (10/14) evening about 5pm and may stay until 7pm. Anyone else interested?
Could be interested. I have no idea where to go to get to the garage and where to meet in the garage. – Rachel
Rachel – We will be on the top floor looking over downtown. You can get to the garage from East Columbus Ave or State St. MGM built a little side street called MGM Way that brings you to the entrance. To drive all the way to the top, you need to take the main ramp to the 5th floor and circle around to get on the next ramp to take you to the 8th floor.

My evening may run a bit later than I expected, so I may not be able to join you tonight, however, I did get down there last night & thought I’d give you a heads up on a few things — the traffic in & out of the ramp was heavy, but it could’ve been because of it being Saturday night, but once you’re on the 8th floor traffic is non-existent …. and be aware of when the lights come on (between 6:15- 6:30-ish) – they may get in the way of some compositions and you’re going to experience some glare, depending on where you point your camera, then again, it may add to your image (?).
I’d suggest bringing along a wide angle lens – or mid range wide angle – my 70-200mm was a bit tight in covering some of the views from that location.
It’s definitely a spot worth revisiting and spending some time at!!

I’m planning to photograph outside TowerSquare in Springfield on Tuesday evening. To get some long exposures and Christmas Lights. I plan to get there by 4:30pm and leave around 6:30pm.

Hi Everyone,
First a reminder, Maureen, Joyce, Rosemary and I will be in downtown Springfield at 4:30pm on Tuesday to get some nighttime street shots.
And this Saturday (12/22) is the full moon. I have a decent spot lined up in Agawam. But I think the weather is going to be bad – Cloudy. So I will send out more details on Friday, if I plan to go. Right now they are expecting it to be clearing during the day, but we will need to wait and see. We would meet about 4pm, if you have any interest.

Hi Everyone – I’m taking an optimistic attitude for the full moon tomorrow. I think the clouds will clear out enough by 4:30pm. I have attached a picture of the view to downtown Springfield (using my 300mm with a little crop). The moon will come up to the left of TowerSquare and rise through the top left corner of the building. The moon will start coming up at 4:37pm. I have also attached a satellite picture of the spot. The Star is where we will take the picture. The Arrow (at the corner of Rowley St and 147) is where we will meet. We should meet at 4pm. If we have many people we will consolidate to 3 or 4 cars. The only thing I am worried about is the short walk could be a little muddy with the rain today. Let me know if you are interested. Larry
Also the lighting should be as bright as my picture of downtown.
