Hi Everyone – the chances for the moon shot tonight are not good. I will be making a last minutes decision about driving to Northampton. Here is a map of the spot to take the picture.
Hi Friends – Next week I will be going to Northampton again to try and catch the moon rising over the Summit House.
On Tuesday, we need to be there (Henry St to Ventures Field) by 7:15pm. The Moon will be visible around 7:42pm. Here the Moon will be very close to the House and the sun will set 10 minutes after we see the Moon.
On Wednesday, we need to be there (Hockanum Rd or Ventures Field) by 7:30pm. The Moon will be visible around 8:10pm. Here the Moon will be off to the side of the House, but it will be 20 minutes after sunset.
On Thursday, we need to be there (Hockanum Rd) by 8:20pm. The Moon will be visible around 8:50pm. Here is the Moon should be right behind the Summit House and it will be very dark. So this could be a very interesting silhouette of the Summit House.

Hi Folks – anyone interested in going to downtown Springfield this evening? I want to get a picture of the new 9/11 memorial at sunset. Then maybe walk over to Court Square. I will get to Riverfront Park just before 8pm.
Hi Everyone – I have a Moon rise Photo Op for you all, for next Sunday. It is very similar to last month. The attached image has all the details. I hope you can go, I will not be able to make it. I expect the lighting to be really good, because the sun will set at the same time the moon is visible behind the Summit House.
Bring your big lens and get a tight shot of the Summit House with the Moon.

Rachel – those are all the key points. Maybe a few do not need to be followed all the time. But we will practice the technique on Saturday.
Also bring a wide angle lens and a telephoto – but not your 200-500. 500 will be too much.

Hi Folks – I have a new Photo Op for you. The 9/11 memorial at Riverfront Park will be dedicated on June 19th. It appears it will be a big event. The memorial should be very interesting to photograph and the dedication will be very emotional. I hope someone goes and gets some good shots.
Hi Everyone – For Ashley Reservoir on Saturday, lets meet at Hunt’s at 8am. Then we can take the 5 minute drive over to one of the entrances. Please bring your tripod, a wide angle lens and a telephone lens. I will bring my laptop some I can show you how to combine the images into panoramas.

Hi Everyone – Here are some details for our Photo Op on Tuesday night. We are meeting around 8:15-8:30pm at Riverfront Park in Springfield
Hi Everyone – tomorrow morning (Weds 3/20) I am going to shoot the full moon over the Memorial Bridge. I will be there between 6-6:45am. I plan to park in the small parking lot for Riverfront Park. A little north of the parking lot are some stairs that lead to the road that goes under the train tracks. If you follow the road you will find me.
Come out and enjoy the first morning of spring.

Hi Everyone – I’m taking an optimistic attitude for the full moon tomorrow. I think the clouds will clear out enough by 4:30pm. I have attached a picture of the view to downtown Springfield (using my 300mm with a little crop). The moon will come up to the left of TowerSquare and rise through the top left corner of the building. The moon will start coming up at 4:37pm. I have also attached a satellite picture of the spot. The Star is where we will take the picture. The Arrow (at the corner of Rowley St and 147) is where we will meet. We should meet at 4pm. If we have many people we will consolidate to 3 or 4 cars. The only thing I am worried about is the short walk could be a little muddy with the rain today. Let me know if you are interested. Larry
Also the lighting should be as bright as my picture of downtown.

First a reminder, Maureen, Joyce, Rosemary and I will be in downtown Springfield at 4:30pm on Tuesday to get some nighttime street shots.
And this Saturday (12/22) is the full moon. I have a decent spot lined up in Agawam. But I think the weather is going to be bad – Cloudy. So I will send out more details on Friday, if I plan to go. Right now they are expecting it to be clearing during the day, but we will need to wait and see. We would meet about 4pm, if you have any interest.

I’m planning to photograph outside TowerSquare in Springfield on Tuesday evening. To get some long exposures and Christmas Lights. I plan to get there by 4:30pm and leave around 6:30pm.

Rachel – We will be on the top floor looking over downtown. You can get to the garage from East Columbus Ave or State St. MGM built a little side street called MGM Way that brings you to the entrance. To drive all the way to the top, you need to take the main ramp to the 5th floor and circle around to get on the next ramp to take you to the 8th floor.
